October Scares!

October is a beautiful month. Trees change color and the weather gets cooler. Dogs love this type of weather. However, as Halloween approaches, your pet may get into some scary stuff.

-Everyone knows chocolate isn't good for pets. You can have a cat that counter surfs or a dog that gets into the cabinets, so it's important to be aware of your pet's mischevious activities and secure the candy in a place where they can't reach. Also, be sure to toss out candy wrappers in the trash because when ingested, it can cause some serious bowel obstruction.

-Jack-O-Laterns and candles can be dangerous to your pet who unexpectedly jumps on tables, or wags their tail too much. They should be kept out of reach as well.

-Decorations like lights, glow sticks, and costumes are just seen as chew toys to pets. They can ingest small buttons, -the liquid in glow sticks, and wire cords, causing poisioning or blockage, which leads to a horrifying emergency bill.

-It is important to keep an eye on your pet when they are in their costumes. They can overheat easily.
